Frequently Asked Questions

What should I wear?
Wear clothing that won’t restrict your movement, such as shorts or leggings and a t-shirt. It is ideal if your teacher can see your knees and ankles for safe practise. Yoga is practised in bare feet. You can wear socks and warmer clothes for savasana (relaxation) at the end.

Can I eat before class?
You should leave at least 3 hours after a main meal and 1 hour after a light snack before practising yoga, or you may feel uncomfortable. We advise that you don’t drink during class. If thirsty, a drink straight after class is perfectly alright.

Do I need my own mat?
Yes. For hygiene purposes and to be able to gain the fullest benefits of yoga by practising at home, we ask you to bring your own non-slip mat. Many sports shops have them available cheaply.

Does it matter what age I am or if I’m not very fit?
Yoga is for everyone, regardless of age, gender, health or religion. You don't need to be fit or flexible. We use specialised yoga equipment that helps even the very stiff to benefit from yoga. Regular practise will improve your flexibility, strength and stamina. As it is non-competitive, all students are encouraged to do what they can.

Do I need to book?
Yes. We require booking a place to keep class sizes small, and enable our classes to be progressive. Please contact Kathy to make enquiries and to book your place.

What if I can't make a booked class?
You can make up the missed class in an alternative class by pre-arrangement with us, as long as we have space.

Can I attend class if I have an injury or other health problem?
It depends on the type of injury or health problem you have. Yoga has many therapeutic values, and can help improve various chronic health problems such, as back problems, poor circulation and respiratory disorders if practised under expert guidance. We can also offer 1 to 1 classes to focus specifically on your health issue. Please contact Kathy to discuss your needs.

Can I continue attending class if I’m pregnant?
Yes. We advise that you don’t attend class until your 14th week. After that, you can attend class throughout your pregnancy.
